The New Approach: Casting Director Series
4-Week On-Camera Audition Class With Film/TV CD Erica Silverman Bream
Thursdays, July 10th – July 31st @ 7:30PM
Knowing how to act is one thing. Knowing how to audition is another thing. And knowing how to audition for the camera is a completely different thing for professional actors today. Having an understanding of how to work the camera – and how your audition will be seen, when producers and directors are watching your tape in a small screen on their computer – is an important skill that can make all of the difference when it comes to getting the job. Casting Director Erica Silverman Bream knows this all too well – she spends her days putting actors on tape (and loves doing so!). And in this four-week course, she will walk you through performing for the camera for auditions – including the increasingly prevalent “self-tape”. Topics for this course will include:
•Working on TV/Feature/Comedy/Drama scripts – breaking down the scenes and reviewing on-camera audition techniques (includes Q&A session with Erica).
•Performing a scene that you take home to prepare, in an audition setting – performed on camera for review – with one-on-one pointers about your personal do’s & don’ts.
•How to prepare a great self-tape. Find out what makes your tape work – and how to create a successful audition. Work on a new scene – to be self-taped for Week 4.
•Self-tape review –one-on-one insights/critiques given. What makes your tape stand out? How can you capture their attention when they don’t ever meet you in the room?
