Creating New Media Content For Actors is a 4-week class designed for any actor who is interested in creating their own content in the new landscape of digital media. This class will give you the tools to get started producing your own material, creating a vehicle to showcase your work, and assembling a collection of “tape” to highlight your talents as an actor.
Producer Maureen Mottley will guide students through topics, which include:
•The current landscape of New Media – and what that means for the types of projects you will want to produce – including current trends and screening of new media samples.
•Differences & similarities to traditional media – and how that affects your choices.
•Artistic potential – creating a decent product vs. solely being self-serving.
•What types of things you need to keep in mind when starting to create your own content for the web – where do you begin, and how to use your own story & unique traits to do it?
•Finding your groove in Internet promotion to ensure that people actually see what you create.
•Working with the SAG New Media Agreement – the pros and cons of creating a project using the SAG/AFTRA contract (and how that can affect your content and your union status).
•What are the nuts and bolts of actually producing your own work – tips & tricks for success?
•Matt & Ben did it!… The benefits of using this newly created content to advance your career.
From course teacher, Maureen Mottley: “Why teach a New Media Class? – Because in my career as a UPM and Producer, I have seen how the landscape of our industry has grown and changed, and I feel that it is important to keep up on the trends that keep us all viable in the business.”
