“I consider it an honor to endorse Jim Curtan, who has been a faculty member for my education institute (CMED) from its beginning in 2001. Combining a highly successful career in the film industry with a brilliant academic background in education, theology, and spiritual direction, Jim developed the unique field of ‘Archetypes and Movies’ through which he introduces workshop participants to the symbolic meaning and messages hidden within the films we watch. For Jim, each actor is an expression of an archetype that steps into a role, which in turn conveys a myth through the message of the film, turning each movie into a masterpiece of insight. I know no one else who could have created ‘Archetypes and Movies’ because of the particular background expertise required. His knowledge of both film and archetypes is breathtaking, not to mention his entertaining style.”
Caroline Myss, Author, Anatomy of the Spirit, Sacred Contracts, and Entering the Castle.
“Very few people on Earth are as knowledgeable about archetypes (as well as psychology & mythology) as Jim Curtan. Even fewer are as gifted at teaching the subject, so that it is relevant to each of us in our work, our play, with our family & friends. Jim Curtan literally opened my eyes to seeing the world and everyone & everything in it in new ways, based on anthropology, ancient texts, modern literature, poetry, art, film, opera, & much more. If you want to enter a mind altering experience with a Master Teacher, who loves & is passionate about his subject, run … do not walk, to Jim Curtan’s workshops & classes, and you will find real wisdom and real enlightenment. And by the way, he’s very funny, so it’s a hell of a lot of fun!”

“Jim Curtan has the unique ability to see into your soul, speak directly from his, and open your heart forever. His workshops inform and entertain as he draws on his life experiences, deep knowledge, and contemporary film to explain your life purpose. His job is joy and he is a master at it. I have never gone so deep so fast as with a Jim Curtan workshop, and I was smiling all the way.”
Gail Condrick, Niavisions
“When Jim first introduced me to the martyr, I saw a part of myself that had played out a thousand times, one that I had no language for. When he further explained the power of her contributions – – her ““witness to the truth”” at all costs – – I was humbled. I admit I was also scared, and when he asked me about my relationship to the concept, I recounted how all the martyrs I remembered were now dead! I now see my twelve archetypes sitting around me in my mental boardroom, all ready to serve, all there for my learning. Among myriad characters in my head and in my life, I now choose which will serve me best in various situations, knowing I can call on their strengths as I become more consciously aware of my own personal evolution. And I am grateful to Jim for his gift of powerful language. Jim has given me the box of 64 Crayolas to replace the box of 8 I had used to color my life.”
D. J. Mitsch, President, Pyramid Resource Group
“Jim’s class on archetypes takes you on an unforgettable journey that feeds your soul and ignites your imagination. I’ll never look at movies the same way.”
Ellen Gunter, Co-author, Reunion: Healing Our Break with the Earth
“Viewing movies with Jim Curtan is an amazing opportunity. Jim offers the lens of symbolic sight and archetypal language through which film takes on richness and texture rarely expressed. As a result, he facilitates a unique, delightful process that is meaningful to each and every viewer.”
